Project: Punishing Angels Deathwing - Alpha Squad

Alpha Squad

Alpha Squad will be as follows:

Alpha Squad - “Bear Claw” – Role: Close Combat / Honor Guard for Master Metatron / Master Uriel / Master Irin – (Command Squad upgrades this squad.)
1 Sergeant Terminator with Twin Lightning Claws
4 Terminators with Twin Lightning Claws

Since Brother Gabriel (the Standard Bearer) is set up to have the banner magnetized I only need 4 models to complete the squad. I had them all built, but then changed my direction so I pulled the arms off to sculpt the hoods and tabards. I’m now setting up to add the arms back on. While I was at it, I wanted to try some ideas I have about mounting the arms a different way. The arms can only attach in a flat plane which really limits the pose possibilities without cutting and tweaking the arms themselves. By adding a ball & socket style join I think I can get a bit more range and expression from the arms. To make the “ball” portion, I hunted around until I settled on a solution. I have a bunch of bare heads that I’m not going to use, and the neck is the same diameter as the original connection. Destiny?

After trimming off 2 necks per model and gluing them on, here is where I’m at:

To get the “socket” portion of the join I’ll use my Dremel with a large ball cutter to hollow out a section in the arm. That’s up next…
