Brother Raphael (Terminator Apothecary)
I’ve known what I wanted to do with a Terminator Apothecary model for a long time now. Splicing the Apothecary upgrade bits onto a Terminator was interesting and proved to be a bit more difficult than I originally thought. I felt it was important to have ALL of the bits, pack and vials included. The hip guards were natural places to locate the vials and pouches. They required a bit of putty work to make them look like they weren’t just slapped on for show though. The pack proved more difficult still. Initially I just pinned it to the back, but the more I looked at it it just looked funny. So I pulled it back off and sliced off part of the back where it angles out on the Terminator suit to get a flush mount. This required a bit of putty work as well to give it a finished look. The head recess requires a lot of carving out with a Dremel to make enough room for a regular marine helmet. Not a big concern though. The Narthecium & Reductor fit pretty well on the Lightning Claw in an underslung position. This way they look usable, again instead of just being stuck on. (Keep in mind that the claws are retractable according to the fluff.)
Now just dressing remains really. The Dark Angels heraldry shield, loin cloth, a few purity seals. I realized that I forgot to file off the laurels on the chest plate so I started to do that as well. I slipped up a bit and mangled the skull. I may just say hang it all and file off all of the icons on the chest for all models in the chapter. A bit more work, but I could get a more cohesive look that way.
Other than minor cleanup, Brother Raphael is ready for the brush.
