Project: Punishing Angels Deathwing - Brother Gabriel

Brother Gabriel (Standard Bearer)

I elected to save myself one Terminator model and have Brother Gabriel do double duty, both as a Standard Bearer and as a member of Alpha squad. I had a big, elaborate banner all worked up and then I totally scrapped the whole idea. I elected to just magnetize a back banner to Gabriel for the Deathwing banner. It seems lame at first, but since I dislike back banners in the first place I won’t be using them at all. (Except for Standard Bearers.) So, they’ll be easy to spot.

I’ll be doing this more than once I suspect, but this is the first model I’ve ever magnetized. It was actually pretty simple. I started by drilling a 1/8″ hole in the carapace to accept the magnet I had. I back filled the hole with green stuff until the magnet sat flush with the surface and set it aside to cure.

While the putty set, I glued the banner to the other magnet (after roughing up the nickel finish so that the glue would hold.) I placed it on the model to let everything dry in place.

Once that was ready, (I let him sit overnight) I attached the arms and shoulder pads. I did not add a loin cloth as he’s also doubling as a trooper model. The banner makes him unique anyway.

A bit more cleanup, like blending the magnet into the banner pole, and he’ll be ready to paint.
