Starting Over?
One of the great things about letting a project like this sit is that you have time to think about it and generate new ideas. It’s also one of the worst things about it. The more I looked at Da Boss here, the more I wanted to change. Couple that with posting it over on The Waaagh! forum for feedback and I’m just about ready to scrap it altogether. I’m determined not to do that though, and I’m going to make it work.
I tore the whole thing down into subassemblies to begin sculpting / rebuilding work. The body of the bike is separated again from the front forks and the bod has been removed. Well, the upper half anyway that isn’t nailed down to the bike.
Since I had some putty still workable from the Chaos Obliterator project I started bulking the boss up.
The idea was to fill in the missing forearm and add more muscles to the neck. The more I looked at it though, the more I decided he needed more mass. He’s supposed to have a Cybork body, so there’s going to have to be more to him than just a few hoses and an iron gob. Off came the arm and I built up new shoulder armor from plastic strips. I’ll need to fill in the gaps (or maybe not) but the mass is there now. I also added some nuts as I prefer the nuts & bolts look to just plain rivets. I have a devious plan for the bolts sticking out of the nuts. I still have to try it and see if it’ll work though. A bigger exhaust for the power klaw has been added as well.
So there he is. I get to work on him alongside an assembly commission this week so I might have another update before I head out of town for Thanksgiving. A 4 day weekend and I don’t get to work on models? Crazy talk!
